We recently completed a flat roof solar panel and battery storage installation at a residential property in Richmond, South West London. The project involved 24 AIKO Energy 460W solar panels installed on a flat gravel roof using specialist tilt rack mounting systems, paired with a Sigenergy battery storage system providing 10.76kWh of usable storage.

The system is designed to generate renewable electricity throughout the day, while the battery stores surplus generation for later use. Based on the system design proposal, estimated lifetime savings exceed £68,000, with a projected payback period of around seven to eight years.

Based on the system design proposal, the installation is estimated to cover approximately 73% of the property’s annual electricity consumption from solar generation. With battery storage incorporated into the design, around 82% of the electricity generated is estimated to be used on site rather than exported to the grid.

The proposal also estimates a reduction of approximately 2 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year – equivalent to planting around 405 trees over the system lifetime.
